I found this article in Oprah’s magazine where Denis Mukewege and Christine Schuler Deschryve mentioned there is a massive campaign of rape destroying girls and mothers in the Congo.John Homes, the UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, called the sexual violence in the Congo “the worst in the world.”
Here is a short video where she discusses the sexual violence.
What surprised me in reading the article and watching the video, is that the sexual violence goes unchecked. WHAT can be done to STOP what is being done to the women in Congo?????
Anyone who reads this article, if you have suggestions as to what can be done to stop the root cause of this problem, what kind of treatment may be done for the women survivors, or what assistance may be done to help them find a new home…please share!
